An assembly is a pre-bundled set of components priced as one unit: an interior wall assembly might include framing, drywall both sides, insulation, tape, and paint per square foot of wall. Assemblies trade precision for speed.
Component-level pricing, the alternative, prices each work item separately. It is slower but honest about what is actually in the number, and it adapts to real scope instead of the assembly's assumptions.
